the activities done to achieve the goals of the world crafts city
Isfahan as the first city in the country in terms of both number and variety of handicrafts, accounts for about 2.3% of the country's handicrafts. It is also recognized as the top city in terms of population in the country with more than 3,000 group workshops, 22,000 individual workshops, and more than 32,000 artists and craftsmen. Gaining valuable experiences and adding papers of knowledge, art, originality, creativity, etc. in many fields of crafts over the centuries, provided the field of sustainable development of the city of Isfahan; and it can somehow be acknowledged that the 40,000-year-old art of this land has maintained its regional, national, and transnational prestige, and with its unbreakable link up to this day and its selection as the World Crafts City and consequently the formation of the World City Secretariat, it is officially and legally entrusted with the planning and monitoring of all activities in the specialized areas of the World City; and on the basis of its inherent mission in the specialized planning, this secretariat was identified as a safe privacy in this field. Today, the choice of this city as the "World Crafts City" is a tidbit that promises a bright future for Islamic Iran among other countries.
Due to its valuable position in the field of handicrafts and traditional arts (not only in the country but in the world) and after numerous follow-up by national and provincial authorities, Isfahan was introduced as the World Crafts City by the World Crafts Council in 2015. As a result of this valuable selection, the responsibility of the cultural servants of the country, and especially of the province has been doubled for the future of this eternal cultural and artistic city.
After the selection of Isfahan in 2015 and following the announcement of the relevant guidelines, the organization began to operate with an organizational structure. The following is a brief report on the importance of the activities done to achieve the goals of the creative and global city.
